biography Former fashion photographer and Sole Accessories designer Iyad Taylor-Damouni, and Meredith, his graphic designer wife had enough creative experience between them to make any label work. So they made their own.

Frustrated with the cuts of T-shirts on the market and driven by a desire to make clothes more intelligent than just a brand name, the couple launched their unisex label, Joe The Taxi Driver, during Mercedes Australian Fashion Week last May.

Kicking off JTTD with simple graphic T-shirts, their second summer range has grown to cover everyone, with denim, knitwear and evening dresses. Khaki drill trousers, Che Guevara print singlets and bomber jackets underline a strong military theme.

A year in, with stockists in Hong Kong and Japan, the couples next challenge is going global. We want to see it all over the world as an Australian made product, says Meredith, 25.

In Oz the label has already secured 45 stockists, including Capital-L in Sydney, York Emporium in Brisbane, and key David Jones stores.
