Having grown up in a housing commission area in the NT, similar to, and with the same kinds of issues as the community portrayed in this film), I have always felt and intense urge to readdress the balance of stories and voices being heard from the poorer areas of our society. When I moved to Sydney I was horrified and saddened by the intense segregation of the community into rich and poor; especially the division that exists between the western suburbs and the rest of Sydney. People like Paul and Ben rarely get their story told, or heard. If more people knew what these kids had to face everyday as a result of growing up in poverty and a climate of indifference, perhaps our society could find a way to be more just.
