1 Can I add my own sounds to the remix?
Answer: You can add any sounds that you have produced to the mix, be they programmed beats, synths, guitars, new vocals, whatever. You cannot however take samples from other people�s work. Any entries using uncredited/uncleared samples will be ineligible.

2 Can I use the samples elsewhere?
Answer: No. The online samples have been cleared for use in participation with the noise/triple j remix project only. Any use of these samples outside of the noise/triple j remix project will be a breach of the artists� copyright.

3 Does the remix have to sound like the original track?
Answer: Get as creative as you like. Remixes don�t have to be the same song with a different beat. You can use only one line or part of the original song, and change that into something else entirely. Use as little or as much as you like.

4 How do I convert the tracks from MP3?
Answer: Once downloaded the mp3 file may have to be converted into a different format for use in audio editing programs. Some free programs that allow format conversion include winamp (pc) (http://www.winamp.com) and i-tunes (mac) (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/index.html). To convert the mp3 into wav format using winamp select preferences > output and highlight the Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in. Now play the mp3 file and the corresponding .wav file will be generated for use in the music software of your choice.

5 How do I enter?
Answer: Once you�ve fine-tuned your remix, you have two ways to enter. Either:
Burn your track to CD, download and fill out the noise submission form and post to:

or:
Head to www.noise.net.au, register online and upload your remix as an MP3 directly to the noise site.

6 How long a sample can I use? How many of the tracks should I use? One or all instruments?
Answer: You can use as much or as little as you like of the original track elements. From one vocal line or guitar line, to the whole damn lot. However, you cannot mix samples from different tracks. Tracks using samples from several songs will be entertaining, but ineligible.

7 How long should the track be?
Answer: The track can be as long as it needs to be.
|

8 How many entries can I make?
Answer: As many as you can complete and send in before October 17 2003.

9 What format do I send it in on?
Answer: Entries must be on either CD Audio or MP3 format.

10 What programs can I use to remix?
Answer: Use whatever programs you have or can get to remix the tracks. Some links that might be of interest are:

11 Why 25 and under?
Answer: noise is a festival that exhibits the work of young people, so somewhere along the way we had to come up with an age limit. We decided that the definition of "youth" as being 25 and under sounded sensible so we decided to use it. For more info, go to www.noise.net.au
